Recently Intel Foundation has pledged to support coronavirus relief efforts in communities where the company has a significant presence. On May 10th and 11th, 428 impacted and deserving families from a small town of Sungai Petani, 32km north of Intel Kulim Malaysia received Covid-19 relief packages containing perishable foods with personal supply of masks and hand sanitizers. The packages were delivered through a partnership with 2 schools in the district.

It was the first time in history where Intel Kulim reached out to communities in Sungai Petani where a small number of employees are based. The event took place in both primary and secondary schools of Bandar Puteri Jaya. Eight Intel volunteers' efforts were synergized along with 40 local volunteers from the school’s PTA and alumni, Civil Defense Department (JPAM) and the People's Volunteer Corps (RELA), making the event a great success. Safety measures, such as social distancing and proper mask wear were practised and monitored during the two days event. Recipients were required to go through a Covid-19 screening checkpoint that includes temperature check, mandatory face mask and hand sanitizing.

The event was published on SMKBPJ's official Facebook page where the communities expressed their deep gratitude towards INTEL.
